During the iconic Grand Wazoo Tour, Sloatman assumed the role of a trusted bodyguard, ensuring Zappa’s safety while they were on the road.

In addition to his security duties, Sloatman’s technical expertise extended to sound engineering. He served as a sound technician for the recording of Zappa’s groundbreaking album, “Overnite Sensation.” This album, initially intended as a standalone release, eventually became part of the critically acclaimed double album, “Apostrophe.” Sloatman’s contributions to the album’s sonic landscape are evident in the album’s intricate arrangements and experimental sound effects.
